Naomie April is a singer and songwriter from western North Carolina. Composing since the age of seven and entering the recording studio at age twelve, her songs are deep and rolling like the mountains around her home. She writes ballads filled with allegory and sings them with the big timbre of her soul.
Soaring operatic pop rock, rooted in the blues — her music is raw, highly vulnerable, and real down to the core — translating her lived experiences into a message that is relatable to every human heart. Her liberating style is influenced by synesthesia, the ability to experience colors with multiple senses, and a composition combined of classical and jazz music theory. She released three singles in 2020 (“Happy”, “Spell”, and “Tethered”).
Naomie April has been taking voice and piano lessons since the age of 12; joined Vagabond Voices at the Flat Rock Playhouse at the age of 15; and studied jazz piano under Alex Taub. She attended Brevard College at 17 to study Jazz, Pop, Rock, and Classical Opera while performing at clubs and cafes in various counties around western North Carolina. She graduated in Spring, 2022 with a Music Performance degree.
Following the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Naomie released her debut album “Stages” and drove down to New Orleans the next day. She quickly fell in love with the music scene and found herself creating roots there, debuting an original show at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, and other local haunts. She is currently working on her second album and has made New Orleans her new musical home base!
“The music becomes such a part of you, and once you release it, the songs no longer belong to you. They belong to the world." Naomie April
